The Design
Eco-Conscience. Budget Friendly.
PASSIVE GREEN DESIGN
The passive building design specifically captures the dramatic views while limiting solar heat gains. It's light footstep on the unique land, conserving water and protecting the lush desert vegetation shows the care in planning taken towards its sustainable goals.
SOLAR POWER
With enough capacity and battery storage to be “off-the-grid” optional and EMP resistant, the design is a model of energy independence.
WATER CONSERVATION
Well usage, rainwater harvesting, greywater reuse, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and natural xeriscape landscaping allows for water self-sustainability.
ENERGY EFFICIENCIES
With extensive shading from architectural overhangs, limited windows with western exposure, Low-E high-efficiency windows, and doors, low wattage LED lighting, Energy Star-rated appliances, and the most modern of mini-split HVAC equipment, the house will use significantly less energy. When paired with its solar power, the Arizona Green House will produce more energy than it uses.
FOOD SELF-SUFFICIENCY
New composting and companion planting techniques, with well, rainwater and greywater usage, create a near food self-sufficient garden and orchard.
ECO-FRIENDLY INTERIORS
Low VOCs, zero formaldehyde, limited interior paints, stains, and rugs, with extensive use of natural materials, makes for a cleaner interior environment. A unique indoor/outdoor flex dining room showcases adaptive living.
